2017 Lexus LS gains new hybrid option | Bangkok Post: auto

Toyota's upscale nameplate has extended a 3.5-litre V6 petrol-electric hybrid to its latest flagship saloon. The LS500h – the first hybrid version of Lexus’ all-new flagship saloon – uses the same petrol-electric drivetrain as in the LC500h coupe. The Porsche Panamera – another luxury saloon that has a fastback silhouette like in the Lexus LS – comes with two hybrid drivetrains: 4 E-Hybrid and Turbo S E-Hybrid. However, the Thai Porsche office would focus on the 4 E-Hybrid as its sub-3,000cc engine would be able to attract 10%; the Turbo S E-Hybrid needs to be content with 50%. The LS500, which also faces 50%, uses a 3.5-litre V6 albeit with twin turbos to boost output to a higher 415hp.
